about

Tiarna Stevenson is an Australian oil painter who explores notions of womanhood and identity. Originating from South East Queensland, Tiarna currently resides in Tweed Heads New South Wales. While traveling across the bordering states of Queensland and New South Wales, neither of which she feels bound to, Tiarna is reminded of the parallel themes that run through her work. Narratives that reveal abstracted feelings, a vacant attachment to the feeling of home and other parts of her "Australian" heritage.  With paint she attempts to communicate the sense of freedom she experiences in the presence of absence.

In 2020 Tiarna completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts through TAFE Queensland in partnership with the University of Canberra and works from the Hand Bent Banana Arts and Health Centre situated in Tallebudgera Valley. In partnership with HBB and Hands on Art Tiarna is currently working on a project titled Birds of Southeast Queensland which is being funded by the RDAF awarded to Tiarna by Arts Queensland. This project aims to help children to connect with nature and learn about citizen science in a creative context.
